Well, this happens when you contact ghost companies - the ones that appear and disappear in a blink. I can't give you a solution since I don't know what really happened before the moving day. Maybe they didn't like the conditions and you weren't convincing. Did they show their interest to help you? No matter the fact, you can sue them, since you paid for a service they didn't provide. The next time you're gonna be looking for a company (no matter the domain), search online for reviews. Nowadays, every company is reviewed on Google. Keep in mind, a company with a good reputation will never admit such mistakes. This is not the case when you should learn from the mistakes. When I moved from my parents to my own apartment, I searched a lot for a good moving company and in the end, I found Eagle State to State Moving (https://eaglestatetostatemoving.com/apartment-movers/). You can tell if you found a good company during the negotiations. I'm not sure if you'll be able to recover the money as a lot of companies simply disappear after gathering some money. That's why a call them ghosts.
