I received an email or FB message asking if I do criminal background checks. I advised the lady that I do, but just because the person has a criminal charge against them doesn't mean that I wouldn't rent to them.

She finally broke down and told me that her bf was charged 7 years ago with "indecent sexual misconduct with a minor". This is definitely a deal breaker for me, especially considering the upstairs neighbor has children.

Is there any legalities that would protect someone with a criminal background from renting? I have plenty of other applicants, but I'm just curious about this area. TIA. -Jason
