You have the right to go in to repair, or go in with the person doing the repair. Bottom line, it is your property. It is normal to go in first on a repair, you need to know what tools are needed, and what materials will need to be purchased. Minor repairs don't require a licensed plumber. Why does your wife go along with you? Your repair guy is who you need to show up with....
