If you can't do math...... - Landlord Forum thread 185583

If you can't do math...... by Tex on September 1, 2009 @13:28

If you can't do math or do not want to I do not know what kind of advice you want. What do you do when the carpet is worn out due to normal wear and tear? Are you installing the same quality carpet or steping it up and charging the renter for it? Did the renter damage the carpet? Or is it simply old and worn out?

Well, gee, the kind of advice I want is a plain answer to the question posed. Didn't think it was that difficult, but let me break it down for the slow readers --

When prorating carpet and installation costs in order to charge a tenant for damage caused by his misuse, do you use the original cost of the carpet when you bought it X years ago, or do you use the cost of the carpet replacement today?
