Don't listen to these folks, they are completely wrong. You are in the right here, after 30 days there is NOTHING they can do to make you pay, ANYTHING. PERIOD. And that is the law in all 50 states. And it is well known, everywhere.

Do NOT write that Landlord a check, you are just throwing your money away. You are not required to pay anything at all, period, ever. He has been very unfair to you up to this point, taking you to court and everything - it isn't right. And I'm sure you are a beautiful woman too, this is just crazy.

Good luck with it and keep your chin up.

What are you talking about? Here in CA we can go after a tenant probably 2 YEARS after the damage, four if there is a written contract involved.

The only limit is the deadline to provide a moving out statement. But if that was done the ll can go after her.

Oh for cr@ps sake, don't listen to John fromwherever.

You are legally on the hook to pay for damages. The LL can sue you, get a judgement from that suit, and turn you over to collections. This will go on your "record" for when anyone does a credit and background check on you, so pay up.

Yes they can make you pay and attach your wages. Do you really want to invite this problem into your life? Pay !
