FLORIDA;
83.535 Flotation Bedding System Restrictions On Use

83.535 Flotation bedding system; restrictions on use. No landlord may prohibit a tenant from using a flotation bedding system in a dwelling unit, provided the flotation bedding system does not violate applicable building codes. The tenant shall be required to carry in the tenant s name flotation insurance as is standard in the industry in an amount deemed reasonable to protect the tenant and owner against personal injury and property damage to the dwelling units. In any case, the policy shall carry a loss payable clause to the owner of the building.

Hope this helps...

In other words, you need to require her to have renters insurance, which should cover any damages caused by the water bed.

    'the policy shall carry a loss payable clause to the owner of the building'

    The Floatation Insurance Policy is payable to the owner.
    It is not Renters Insurance, as some Renters Insurance Policys do not cover waterbeds.

    Many States require this by code as Florida does.

      You guys have taught me something new. I did not know you could buy a separate "Flotation " policy. I thought it was just one small coverage rolled into a larger policy that covered many things. I know my State Farm Fire Ins policy won't cover water beds, but their Renters Ins. policy will. Thanks guys.
