We just received notice that we went thru 14,500 gallons of water in the past month. I called the landlord and he finally showed up mid-day the next day and said he would come back, he came back later that afternoon and said we had a leak in under the house by the bathroom and that we should shut the water off. Believe me, we should have noticed that much water but there were no signs of anything leaking. Last time this happened we were out of water for five days until he could find someone cheap enough to come to come and fix it.There is noway we feel we should foot the bill for 14,500 gallons of water. Landlords get away with way too much!

Hi John. My daughter had the same type of issue in Texas, except it was 890,000 gallons of water and a bill of $13,500! They never saw signs that there was water pooling in the yard or in the street (it was a line close to the street). They notified the landlord right away and he fixed it. The problem is now my daughter has been stuck with paying that bill. The whole thing sounds suspicious to me. They didn't receive a water bill for 2 months and then got a call from the utility company stating that they owe this money. How did you resolve your issue?
