Oh yes. I have a master lock/key system. The lease is very specific that tenant and/or tenants agent may not change those lock without my permission...and then they must acquire the new locks / keys from my locksmith only.

I get really irate with tenants that change locks on me....I insist they have to leave.

You can't kick them out if they have a lease. Just because they violated it doesn't mean you can violate it. Insist away, it doesn't work like that.

When I insist...I get a court to put it in writing. Eviction for lease violation is not difficult. But, I have rarely had to go that far. My notice to cure (put my locks back) is accompanied with a letter explaining the very serious ramifications of an eviction in the tenants background. 99% of the time..that does it.

99% of the time, that letter goes straight into the trash without being read.
