I put a breed restriction on prospective tenants.
I say anything over 50lbs. is too large. I do however have a townhouse. You may want to meet the dog and can get a better idea of its attitude/disposistion.
I think that tenants are responsible for their pets but I, if I were you, wouldn't take a chance on dogs that are prown to have an aggressive nature.

Hello on exactly what list did you see that rottweilers are considered an aggressive dog breed?
I ask because even according to the ASPCA/humane society and other agencies a Rott is considered a work dog and semi territorial and not considered to be an aggressive dog at all.
hell they even adopt 5 year old males out..

and according to the goverment the most aggressive dog breed are..

1.weenie dogs Dachshund

2.chihuahuas

3.jack russells

so please stop fear mongering amongst yourselves and get your facts right.. it make us tenants lifes hard who happen to own a dog that you consider aggressive with out the proper facts.

With Breed Specific Legislation acts being brought forward in more and more areas across the country, dogs like Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers and other “scary” looking breeds are in danger of losing their homes and even their lives. These breeds are often touted as being extremely aggressive – however a new study released this week in the journal of Applied Animal Behavior Science provides some statistical facts on what breeds actually ARE the most aggressive – and the answers may surprise you!

Well then all the chihuahua breed should be exterminated because all those little rats have an aggressive nature.

I have owned 5 female Rottweilers in the last 20 years, usually 2 Rotts at a time. I had rotts before i had my children. My rotts were loving and tolerant of my children, however my smartest rott always disliked 1 child....and i supervised their interaction. there was never agression, but i saw my rotts body language for that child. That same rott, loved to pull kids "to safety " all over the pool or when in a lake, all the kids loved to play with her in the pool.

I own my first male rott now...14 months old and a lover all the way of everyone! my vet complimented me on how well socialized he is.

this is a very smart breed. treat them well, socialize them well, never chain them or leave them outdoors only!!! they can't protect the people they love if they are outdoors all the time. this breed has an inherent sense of right and wrong. don't get them as a show off breed, but only if you are able to provide a loving home.

unfortunately, my rotts w regular medical care only lived to 7-8 yoa. a shame, for such an incredible breed.

I would add that my young daughter treated them like they were dolls to bathe with her...they loved her.

this breed is only aggressive without socialization, discipline, and an owner that understands that. they are not outside only dogs.
