I'd have a huge problem with this. Who's running things, you or the tenant?
You have no way of knowing what's really wrong, if there is any fault, or if the repair guy was insured.
What does your lease say?

I think a landlord should respond to investigate any tenant repair regardless of what the lease says. Wouldn't you want to protect your investment from possible faulty repairs that could damage your rental or would you be more concerned what the lease said who was responsible? This landlord seems to not be concerned about the repair, but whether who pays.
Your comment about it being silly comes across as sexist! Are you sexist toward women? Why would you reply to a women with the term silly?

The lease does say that tenant can not make any repairs without written consent from the landlord and landlord shall not be responsible for alterations or repairs made by tenants. The tenants did not even give us 24 hours not even 12 hours to find our own repairman
