Re: abusive tenants - Landlord Forum thread 347630

Re: abusive tenants by LS (CA) on August 25, 2016 @22:21

I wasn't clear- what I'm asking is can I do a 30 day notice? I thought it had to be 60 or 90 days? If it does can they stay until the end of Oct. or Nov. ? I imagine that they will not pay for those months so it could be very costly.
If they do stay I read I can charge more for the baby when it's born Is this correct? I do want them out but maybe not if I loose the other 2 months of rent. Also, can I just tell Sec 8 I want to leave the program ?

Hud only pays slightly under 1/3 of their rent.

Since they've been there longer than one year, you'll need to give them a 60-day notice. I would still contact Section 8 as well. If they don't pay rent, contact Section 8 again and also start legal proceedings. If they want to keep their benefits, they'll get with the program. As far as I know, you can stop participating in Section 8 at any time.

I can't believe you actually asked the question of : can you charge more rent when their baby is born !!?? H-LL NO YOU CAN'T !!! Do you want to be brought up on charges of discrimination against families with children ?? You need to get ahold of a civil rights person IMMEDIATELY and read about discrimination laws in this country. And, yes, you can write a letter to Sec 8 telling them you no longer want to be on their program as of a certain date (probably 60 days out).
