Hostile forum bullies - Landlord Forum thread 351618

Hostile forum bullies by Joel on April 13, 2017 @16:13

So glad to see some of the mean spirited postings removed.
It is amusing that some people need the forum to spew their hatred whenever they disagree with someone.
They can't just move on and add their helpful advice without attacking a person the disagree with.
Silly.

I have been here many years and clearly remember the nasty vile things that G has posted over time, especially against Mr. Dan who was well versed in landlord issues. Don't see the same rules applied equally then or now. This forum has become less and less informative with landlords that have no credentials or training that post unprofessional opinions. All we get now is the in consistence blabbering of one poster who feels he's in charge of this forum. The shameful part is that many readers do not understand the potential danger in following bad opinions and advice from such persons. They believe, because it falls with their line of thought, then it must be right. I do wish that those with great knowledge and experience would or could return, like Eric, Mr. Dan, Gail etc. Those were landlords who weighed both sides of the issue and explained clearly without being judgmental or abusive with their answers.
They knew their sh#t and proved it. I see they have moved on to better landlord forums where they are greatly appreciated for their professional advice.

"They can't just move on and add their helpful advice without attacking a person they disagree with"

That is the perfect description of G! You have not been around as long as some of us and might be unaware of how he has treated others. As the saying goes "you reap what you sow". Many here are tired of the unequal application of rules that he seems to be immune to.

There are some of us that realizes the damage bad opinions can do. That the same old beliefs are spewed about that are proven wrong many times over. We need help from those who are career professional landlords, not those who have no training or accreditation. Owning rental property does not make you a landlord, training and education does and we have lost some of those landlords due to one person.

Thanks Randi,
I'm doing my best.
The funny thing is that a certain poster (who I will not name) who was banned and is highly respected by so many of you
IS.... wait for it....
either a man or a woman
because this person over the years has posted so many great informative postings and many not so great and bullying postings under different names male and female.
The great postings with lots of pasted info was always by the highly respected personality, while many of his/her own other postings were either attacking other posters or praising his/her good postings.
Very entertaining, when deciding whether to ban someone and we see all thepostings from the same IP address.

I've been here for a long time.
Here's my 2 cents:
I'm glad you are cleaning house. If people can't conduct themselves with respect and decency toward each other, good riddance.

To tell you the truth, I've seen some of the bully postings and most of them are directed at our friend from Iowa.
Although I don't always agree with his advice, he is trying to help and he is usually followed up immediately by one nemesis or another.
When I disagree, I will either state my point of view or if someone else already has,I'll move on.

my wish would that no one be allowed to post as "anonymous". difficult to follow some times. Call yourself Mr. Roper, Natasha, Gomer, doesn't matter but be consistent and it would make following threads easier ... at least for my sometimes feeble mind.

I have been on and off this forum for over 10 years and I agree with Jack. Honestly, after reading a lot of the posts people have issue with, I tend to agree with the poster people seem to hate, more than 50% of the time. I think the posts are an opinion of experiences and thoughts on the subject matter, but that's what everyone's posts are. They are opinions of the subject, comments on legality, interpretations of law, and sharing of experiences. None of which should every be taken as "legal advice" but rather a sharing of opinions, research, or other matters.

No one should be bullied even if you don't agree with a post, but please, if you don't agree, I request you take the time to provide the sources for your concern with the advice. Everyone's experiences in each little situation can be vastly different. The more we know about the resources available on line and the types of situations encountered, approached, and the ultimate results, the better we can be prepared for the uncertainties.

Yes...a lot of the issues would be solved if everyone had to create a nick and use it.

Anon posts are often cyber bullying. If people had to create a rep and then live with it...well, having to put yourself on your posts would make a difference.

As for the the feuding here, I try to ignore it. But, when it gets bad, I just go away for a while. There are others that have gone away for good. Wish the Mod would take action to stop it.

Haven't been on here for months, I see the same problems are still happening here. I agree anonymous posting needs to go.
